Reports to:  ASPIRE Program Director
 
Qualifications:
Program assistant helps in all operations as defined by the School and Community Resource Coordinator, performs a wide variety of duties related to the Family Resource Center and the Before and After School Programs, and manages the front office to provide a welcoming and efficient working environment.  
 
Requirements:

  1. Earned a High School diploma or advanced degree
  2. Must be able to attend to detail and take tasks from start to completion in a timely manner
  3. Must be able to handle and prioritize multiple requests or tasks
  4. Must be courteous and cooperate with supervisors, the public, school staff and students
  5. Demonstrate keyboarding and computer skills
  6. Demonstrate good communication skills (face-to-face, telephone, e-mail, etc.)

Essential Responsibilities;
Performance Responsibilities: (For ASPIRE, FRC, Family Toy & Book Lending Library and Successful Beginnings Preschool)
 
Performs scheduled job in a quick and efficient manner

  1. Completes scheduled tasks as directed by School and Community Resource Coordinator
  2. Uses own initiative to get the work done
  3. Ensures that all activities conform to district guidelines
  4. Completes forms in accordance with school procedures
  5. Attends monthly meetings 
  6. Composes, types, and distributes meeting minutes
  7. Conducts research to find needed information, using sources such as the Internet
  8. Plans projects and actively contributes as a team member
  9. Operates electronic mail systems and coordinates the flow of information both internally and with other agencies and the public
  10. Operates office equipment such as the fax machine, copier, and phone system, and uses computers for spreadsheets, word processing, database management, and other applications
  11. Locates and attaches appropriate files to incoming correspondences requiring replies
  12. Documents and forwards tuition payments to appropriate personnel 
  13. Makes copies of correspondence and other printed material for ASPIRE program and FRC 
  14. Creates informational material about ASPIRE and FRC, with Coordinator approval
  15. Delivers weekly newsletters, materials, and snacks to Primary and/or Intermediate Building
  16. Mails out correspondences as needed
  17. Opens, routes and distributes incoming mail 
  18. Sets up and maintains an orderly paper and electronic filing systems for records, correspondences, and other material
  19. Informs Coordinator of needed supplies or materials and researches the cost 
  20. Provides services to the public (i.e. FRC, assisting the public with the Food Pantry, copier, fax machine, computer, community events fliers and informational pamphlets.  FLL, assisting the public with checking out the toys and books.)
  21. Proofreads printed material and recommends revisions
  22. Assists new staff or substitutes with operation procedcures
  23. Is willing to learn or take on additional tasks as time allows

 
Essential Responsibilities Specific to the Position;
Performance Responsibilities:

  1. Makes parental contacts as needed regarding cancellations, schedule changes, etc.
  2. Maintains and operates copier, printer, and fax machine; ensuring that supplies are stocked and maintenance is performed when necessary
  3. Operates office laminator and die cut machine when needed
  4. Creates and distributes monthly ASPIRE snack calendar (to meet USDA nutrition requirements), staff work schedule, and activity calendar 
  5. Creates monthly grocery list of needed snacks and supplies for ASPIRE 
  6. Maintains ASPIRE snack and supply cabinets and ensures that snacks are purchased, prepared, and delivered for ASPIRE 
  7. Maintains front office area (clean, dust, water plants, organize book shelves and toys, etc.), 3 supply rooms, and a hallway work area
  8. Assists Coordinator in planning annual Adopt-A-Family project with an annual Food Drive
  9. Organizes Food Pantry and assists public when needed
  10. Assists Coordinator in planning and executing quarterly family events 
  11. Organizes, catalogs, and maintains Toy & Book Lending Library 
  12. Assists Coordinator in planning, organizing, and carrying out various fundraisers throughout the year (making phone calls, typing letters and reminders, creating supply and grocery lists, working at the event, preparing food, setting up and tearing down, cleaning up, etc.)
  13. Assists Coordinator in researching grants and additional funding sources
  14. Creates and updates monthly bulletin boards (2 at Intermediate building and 1 at FRC) for upcoming ASPIRE events
  15. Attends monthly staff meetings and planning sessions
  16. Takes meeting notes and creates and distributes the minutes to all persons involved
  17. Answers phone for Preschool, FRC and ASPIRE
  18. Takes and delivers clear messages 
  19. Assists callers as needed
  20. Receives incoming package deliveries and routes the packages to the correct area
  21. Bills and maintains records for Preschool Wrap-Around, Preschool Tuition and Meals
  22. Works as a substitute Site Coordinator for ASPIRE as needed
  23. Helps create a clean, safe, enriching environment in the ASPIRE classroom

Qualifications:
After School Site Coordinator will be actively involved with all aspects of on-site supervision of school-age children and the development of after school programming.
High School diploma or advanced degree required.
 
General Duties and Responsibilities;

  • Develop a positive and supportive relationship with staff, parents and children involved in the after school program.
  • Design and implement developmentally appropriate activities for students (K-5).
  • Create a safe and nurturing environment for all students.
  • Supervise student assistants, program associates and volunteers in a positive and effective manner.
  • Assist Program Coordinator in developing staff schedules and monthly activity calendars.

Activities Director

Job Description
Purpose: The Activities Director coordinates school athletic activities to avoid scheduling conflicts and ensures rewarding experiences for students.  To accomplish these tasks the Activities Director must work closely with the staff and administration of East Union Community School, and with the staff of other school systems.

  4. Schedule and secure contracts for all athletic activities.

  7. Work with coaches and club sponsors in setting up activity budgets and establishing priority items to be ordered, and submit budgets and purchase order for approval.

  10. Keep the Principal and coaches and sponsors informed of dates and locations for activities sponsored by state activity association.

  13. Check rosters from visiting school athletic teams and extra-curricular organizations and provide program information to activities secretary.

Purpose: The Head Coach promotes an appreciation of physical fitness, teamwork, and sportsmanship.  The Head Coach provides leadership and supervision for team and individual sports, and works closely with the other staff and administration of East Union Community School.

  7. Ensure that health and safety precautions are observed during all activities.
  8. Immediately report all major injuries incurred during practice sessions or competition to the Athletic Director and Principal.
  9. Ensure proper purchasing, inventory, and care of equipment.
  10. Submit a complete team roster to the Athletic Director ten days prior to the first contest. The following items should be included: player’s name, year in school, height, weight, and uniform number, where applicable.
  11. Submit an end of the year report to the Athletic Director at the close of each season.
  12. Assign timers and scorekeepers for home athletic events.
  13. Publish the results of contests in area newspapers and report the same to area radio and television stations.
  14. Present a letter of recognition (emblem) to all athletes who meet the necessary requirements.
  15. Clearly assign the duties of the assistant coaches and junior high coaches.
  16. See that district policies are observed during all activities.
  17. Keep abreast of new information, innovative ideas, and techniques.
  18. Obtain advance approval of the Athletic Director and Principal for all activities and expenditures.

    1. Distribute applications to interested students.
    2. Distribute and discuss the constitution with students, and secure signed parent and student permission forms.
    3. Inform students of any costs involved, and distribute a list of cheers that are required for tryouts.
    4. Secure judges for the tryouts.
    5. With the help of the assistant sponsor or other impartial person, tally points awarded by the judges during tryouts.  Determine tryout results by adding the judges’ points to the teacher evaluation poi9nts.
    6. Announce and post the results.
  4. Ensure that all members have completed the proper registration (signed constitution, physical, insurance forms, medical history and risk forms) prior to the first performance.  File all registration forms with the athletic director.
  5. Organize and schedule practices and performances. Distribute a schedule of such activities to each member.
  6. Coordinate pep rallies, parades, and other activities.
  7. Preview all skits, presentations, sign, and posters for appropriateness.
  8. Present a letter of recognition (emblem) to all members who follow the constitution and perform satisfactorily.
  9. Supervise the ordering, distribution, and collection of uniforms.
  10. Secure transportation to out-of-town activities.
  11. Ensure that safety precautions are observed during all activities.

The cheerleading sponsor should be responsible for the care of all students when they are involved in activities associated with cheerleading.  The sponsor should also be responsible for any and all uniforms and equipment associated with cheerleading.  The sponsor should also be responsible for all monies generated or associated with cheerleading.  The sponsor should carry out these duties in a manner befitting the teaching profession, and representing the policies of the East Union Community School.  At anytime that these duties cannot be fulfilled completely, it will be the sponsor’s responsibility to find a replacement from certified staff members to substitute and carry out any of these obligations not able to be met by the sponsor.
 
Suggested minimal activity attendance:

  1. Provide transportation and supervision for all away varsity football games.
  2. Attend all after school scheduled cheerleading practices.
  3. Attend at least one basketball game per week during the season at the varsity level.
  4. Attend at least one-half of the varsity home wrestling meets and provide transportation and supervision to out of town meets and tournaments when needed.
  5. Provide pep bus supervision to road activities whenever that need arises.

Purpose:     The Assistant/Middle School coach assists the Head coach in promoting an appreciation of physical fitness, teamwork, and sportsmanship. The Assistant/Middle School coach assists in providing leadership and supervision for team and individual sports, and works closely with the other staff and administration of East Union Community School.
Responsible to:  Athletic Director and Principal
Payment rate:  According to negotiated agreement
 
Qualifications:

  1. High school diploma or equivalent.
  2. Current State Teaching Certificate on file in the central office.
  3. Desire to continue career improvement.
  4. Must hold a current State of Iowa Coaching endorsement or authorization.

General Responsibilities:

  5. Ensure that student athletes adhere to training rules, lettering policies, grade requirements, and rules of behavior.
  6. Ensure the continual supervision of student athletes on the field, in conditioning, and in locker and shower rooms.
  7. Ensure that health and safety precautions are observed during all activities.
  8. Immediately report all major injuries incurred during practice sessions or competition to the Head Coach, Athletic Director, and Principal.
  9. Ensure proper purchasing, inventory, and care of equipment.
  10. Submit a complete team roster to the Athletic Director ten days prior to the first contest.  The following items should be included: player’s name, year in school, and uniform number, where applicable (responsibility of MS Coaches).
  11. Submit an end-of-year report to the Athletic Director at the close of each season.
  12. Resent a letter of recognition (emblem) to all athletes who meet the necessary requirements.
  13. See that district policies are observed during all activities.
  14. Keep abreast of new information, innovative ideas and techniques.
  15. Obtain advance approval of the Athletic Director and Principal for all activities and expenditures.
  16. Adhere to all district health and safety policies, including all precautions of the Bloodborne Pathogens Exposure Control Plan.

The cheerleading sponsor should be responsible for the care of all students when they are involved in activities associated with cheerleading.  The sponsor should also be responsible for any and all uniforms and equipment associated with cheerleading.  The sponsor should also be responsible for all monies generated or associated with cheerleading.  The sponsor should carry out these duties in a manner befitting the teaching profession, and representing the policies of the East Union Community School.  At anytime that these duties cannot be fulfilled completely, it will be the sponsor’s responsibility to find a replacement from certified staff members to substitute and carry out any of these obligations not able to be met by the sponsor.
 
Suggested minimal activity attendance:

  1. Provide transportation and supervision for all away varsity football games.
  2. Attend all after school scheduled cheerleading practices.
  3. Attend at least one basketball game per week during the season at the varsity level.
  4. Attend at least one-half of the varsity home wrestling meets and provide transportation and supervision to out of town meets and tournaments when needed.
  5. Provide pep bus supervision to road activities whenever that need arises.

General Responsibilities:

 

  1. Attends all meetings of the Board of Education and keeps an accurate record of proceedings
  2. Provides care and custody of records, books, and documents of the Board of Education
  3. Notifies Board of Education members of upcoming meetings and provides a copy of the minutes to each member
  4. Countersigns all warrants drawn upon the treasurer by order of the Board of Education
  5. Maintains accurate records of transportation maintenance and fuel costs
  6. Prepares contracts for employees
  7. Prepares annual transportation report
  8. Prepares payroll withholding report
  9. Maintains accurate records of payroll, timecards, and Employee Leave Request Form (Leave Request in East Union CSD only)
  10. Keeps a record of all warrants and warrant checks issued showing the number, date and amount thereof, on what fund drawn and the name of the person or party to whom the same are made payable
  11. Opens and keeps an account of expenditures from each fund for which monies have been appropriated, and charges the appropriate fund with the amount of an indebtedness created at the time the indebtedness is incurred
  12. Keeps a record of the amount of money in the treasury and in each particular fund
  13. Keeps a record of all indebtedness
  14. Maintains records of accounts due the Board of Education
  15. Collects and deposits all monies in the approved depositories
  16. Assembles all claims against the Board of Education
  17. Upon order of the Board of Education, invests idle funds within the framework of current state law and in the best financial interest of the district
  18. Provides care and custody of documents representing investment securities owned by the Board of Education, and keeps the Board informed as to maturing dates of such securities
  19. Maintains the Board of Education Policy handbook and notifies administrators of any change in Board Policy
  20. Prepares and submits to Board of Education including:
    • Money received by the treasurer since the last report, and from what sources received
    • Amount of building funds and other special funds, and how invested
    • All money disbursed, and the purposes for which it is expended
    • Balance of the general fund in the hands of the treasurer
    • Balance of bond and interest funds in the hands of the treasurer
    • Number, date, and amount of all bonds issued and retired by the Board
  21. Certifies to the county clerk the annual budget and tax levy
  22. Certifies to the county election office a list of all school offices to be voted upon at each school election, and boundary changes of member districts since the last preceding election, and the voting plan to be used
  23. Annually certifies the State Board of Education a copy of the budget adopted by the district
  24. Annually certifies a copy of adopted budget and financial statements to the Department of Education

  • This job entails working with a wide variety of students who have been identified as needing special services. The para-educator’s primary responsibility will be to assist the students when they are in the general education classrooms. The para-educator will be expected to support students’ learning at all times in order for students to attain the goals outlined for each in the IEP. This individual will be expected to work collaboratively with each general education teacher to which classroom he/she is assigned and to communicate regularly with the special education teachers regarding instructional programs, methods, and progress towards the goal areas. This position requires someone with the capacity to deliver effective learning strategies to help students acquire knowledge and skills, particularly in the areas of mathematics and English/Language Arts. While the majority of the para-educators’ time will be spent helping students with an IEP understand the content so that progress is being demonstrated with their learning, there will be opportunities for the para-educator to assist some students who are not identified with an IEP, but who also need brief periods of assistance. The expectation for the staff member is to help the general education teacher by providing additional support to students who are challenged with learning the content, so that all students are more successful with their learning.

The expectation for the para-educator is to help the student(s) by providing additional support to the students to whom he/she is assigned that are faced with more significant learning and/or behavioral challenges.
