Qualifications

  • NAEYC Administrative Requirements 10.A.02
  • The administrator has at least a baccalaureate degree. (AND)
  • The administrator has at least a baccalaureate degree. (AND)
  • The administrator has at least 9 credit-bearing hours of specialized college-level course work in administration, leadership, and management (which can be in school administration, business management, communication, technology, early childhood management or administration, or some combination of these areas.) (AND)
  • The administrator has at least 24 credit-bearing hours of specialized college-level course work in early childhood education, child development, elementary education or early childhood special education that addresses child development and learning from birth through kindergarten
  • Evaluator’s License or Willing to Obtain
  • Five Years of Early Childhood Experience Required
  • Masters Degree Preferred

Financial Management

  • Demonstrates knowledge of various federal, state, and local revenue sources.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of bookkeeping methods and accounting terminology.
  • Manages budgeting, cash flow, grant writing, and fundraising.
  • Assures accurate billing and timely receivables for the center. 
  • Develops and revises program budgets in collaboration with the district business manager.  
  • Works to meet or exceed financial goals.
  • Initiates program adjustments based on current budget performance.
  • Tracks program utilization for optimum program performance.  

Human Resources Management

  •  Recruits, selects, inducts, and retains staff to support quality instruction.
  •  Provides new staff orientation and professional development that directly enhances staff members’ performance and improves student learning. 
  • Evaluates staff and provides ongoing coaching for improvement, including assisting with the development of Individual Professional Development Plans
  • Informs staff of licensure requirements and policy changes through regular staff meetings.
  • Schedules to maintain an efficient number of staff to meet the center’s needs.
  • Provides support to staff and maintains employee confidentiality.
  • Maintains current and accurate staff records.

Program Management

  • Assures that all services offered through the center meet or exceed quality assurance guidelines, including but not limited to NAEYC, Head Start, or IQPPS. 
  • Complies with state and federal mandates and local board policies.
  • Manages physical resources responsibly, efficiently, and effectively.  
  • Monitors and evaluates the effectiveness of curriculum, instruction and assessment.
  • Ensures that services are offered in accordance with safety policies and procedures.
  • Responds effectively to crisis situations.
  • Develops center and program handbooks that detail service delivery policies. 
  • Strives to meet program goals for inclusion.
  • Maintains center records (includes emergency drills; building, fire and sanitation inspections).
  • Ensures personnel and operational procedures are aligned with those of the district.
  • Recommends fee schedule and monitor collection of fees.  
  • Orders appropriate center supplies for provision of care (food, gloves, toiletries, etc.) and  materials for classroom programs and activities.
  • Establishes and maintains a healthy, safe, and positive working environment.
  • Protects instructional time by designing and managing operational procedures to maximize learning.
  • Addresses current and potential situations in a timely manner.

 

Public Relations and Advocacy

  • Possesses knowledge of the legislative process, social issues, and public policy affecting young children and their families.
  • Implements program practices that support families of diverse cultural, ethnic, and socioeconomic backgrounds.
  • Successfully markets the center to stakeholders.
  • Represents the center in the community and acts as a liaison with other agencies.
  • Supports families as valued partners in the educational process.
  • Communicates program’s philosophy and promotes a positive public image to families and community members.
  • Facilitates the connections of students and families to the community resources and the health and social services that support a focus on learning.
  • Collaborates with service providers and other decision-makers to enhance the program.
  • Develops and distributes effective promotional literature, handbooks, newsletters, and press releases.

  • Uses research and/or best practices to improving the educational program.
  • Articulates and promotes high expectations for teaching and learning.
  • Aligns and implements the educational programs, plans, actions, and resources with the district’s vision and goals.

Early Childhood Site Coordinator

Title:  East Union Early Childhood Site Coordinator

Building/Department Assignment: E. U. Early Childhood Center

Reports to:  East Union Early Childhood Center Director

 

Qualifications:

CDA (Child Development Credential) is required*

CACFP(Child and Adult Care Food Program) knowledge is required

 

General Duties and Responsibilities:

The Early Early Childhood Site Coordinator will be actively involved with all aspects of on-site supervision of the program.

 

  • Develop a positive and supportive relationship with staff, parents and children involved in the Early Childhood program
  • Create a safe and nurturing environment for all students
  • Supervise the general operations of the program, guide assistants in the program with duties and, when volunteers are on site, guide them in a positive and effective manner.
  • Assist Program Director in developing staff schedules
  • Communicate and regularly collaborate with teachers, Director, counselors, and parents to ensure student success
  • Maintain accurate daily records of enrollment, attendance, and meal count.
  • Oversee the breakfast, lunch, and snack programs to assure compliance with CACFP guidelines
  • Schedule visitors to come into the program and supervise the visit
  • Attend Early Childhood Institute (ECI) meetings provided by AEA
  • Attend required Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP) trainings
  • Plan meals and purchase food for program that meets CACFP
  • Continue to research and seek out the best materials, resources, and practices for early childhood programming.
  • Attend monthly staff meetings and all required trainings
  • Incorporate a community service component by connecting parents/ families with services
  • Supervise the distribution of daily meals and snacks
  • Provide training to staff on the CACFP guidelines for serving and reporting
  • Give parents tours and assist parents in the enrollment process
  • Assist Director in financial reporting, billing, parent statements, DHS (Department of Human Services) children, staff files, notes to parents, and other items as assigned by Director
  • Provide written items/articles for monthly parent newsletter
  • Create partnerships with area agencies/organizations, and businesses

*CDA (Child Development Credential) is a competency-based, nationally recognized credential awarded by the Council for Professional Recognition in Washington, DC. and includes 120 clock hours of training.  Yearly training is required to maintain this credential.

  • Will acquire or have First Aid training
  • Need proof of TB test
  • Ability to reach, bend, stoop, kneel, sit, and stand for extended periods of time
  • Ability to work in both warm and cold conditions (indoor and outdoor environments)

Qualifications:

The assistant teacher helps in all operations as defined by the East Union Early Childhood Center Director performs a wide variety of duties. All duties assist in planning and implementing all East Union Early Childhood Center goals and objectives for the classroom.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  1. Help to create a developmentally appropriate environment for children 2 ½-5 that will incorporate and encourage the use of language, social, cognitive, creativity, and motor skills of each child
  2. Embrace, embed, express, and grow in the early childhood principles and development within all areas of the program
  3. Assist by working with children individually and in small and large group settings.
  4. Help meet/exceed quality standards – which may include: NAEYC, QRS, QPPS, IELS
  5. Assist in implementing weekly lesson plans with developmentally appropriate activities incorporating all 8 Domains of Learning
  6. Help keep a child portfolio on each child and implement the Creative Curriculum Gold
  7. Encourage family involvement through volunteering in the classroom, assist in home visits, and family events
  8. Help to provide an environment of respect for each individual child’s culture, home language and family composition, through use of language and social experiences and classroom material.
  9. Guide children by making experiences available that will support emotional development for children
  10. Accept each child where he/she is and provide opportunities for them to grow that aredevelopmentally appropriate

  1. Assist teacher in referring families to appropriate primary healthcare, which includes medical, dental, and mental health and Area Education Agency (AEA)
  2. Support teacher with individualized plan for each child based upon observation and assessment information
  3. Implement practices and requirements that promote positive, culturally relevant health behavior.  Responsible for the completion and supervision of cleaning and maintenance of the classroom, restrooms, storage areas, kitchen and any building areas that the program uses

Child Nutrition

  1. Assist families in meeting each child’s nutritional needs, which includes implementing the food program requirements and family style dining
  2. Provide nutritional information to the families
