401.11 Employee Distracted Driving

The East Union Community School District is committed to ensuring the safety of students, staff and community members, and recognizes that distracted driving is a known hazard.

 

In order to minimize distracted driving, the Board of Education prohibits employee use of all portable electronic communication devices and associated equipment while driving district vehicles or operating school district motorized equipment.  This policy does not prohibit employees from otherwise using an electronic communication devise in a school district vehicle which is off the roadway and at a complete stop.

 

While driving a school vehicle or operating school district motorized equipment, employees are prohibited from using all portable electronic communication devices and associated equipment including, but not limited to, the following:

 

  • Cell Phones, Smart Phones, and other Smart Devices
  • E-Book Readers, Bluetooth devices, Laptops, Portable Blu-Ray or DVD Players  
  • Providing a safe environment for everyone in crucial. Employees who fail to comply with this policy may receive disciplinary action up to and including termination of employment.
  • All school district employees shall receive a copy of this policy and shall acknowledge receipt of same prior to driving or operating any school district vehicle or motorized equipment.
