Job Description

Title: East Union ASPIRE "More" School & Community Resource Coordinator

Building/Assignment: East Union Resource Center & Thrift Store (100 N. Douglas St., Afton, IA)

Reports to: Principal / Superintendent

Position Purpose

The ASPIRE "More" (Added School Programming Integrating Recreation & Education) Coordinator serves as the vital link between the district and the community. This role manages the district’s social enterprises and essential resource programs to combat food insufficiency and provide direct support to children and families in need.

Key Responsibilities

  • ASPIRE "More" Thrift Store Management: Direct all daily operations including inventory processing, sales, financial reporting, and volunteer management.
  • Food Pantry Coordination: Manage the partnership with the Food Bank of Iowa. Responsibilities include placing food orders, ensuring safe and organized storage, submitting compliance reports, and acting as the primary district liaison to fight local food insecurity.
  • Community Project Development: Design and execute projects that foster community engagement and provide "More" for East Union families through recreation and education.
  • Student & Family Advocacy: Identify and fulfill needs for children (clothing, school supplies, etc.) in collaboration with school staff to remove barriers to student success.
  • Partnership & Outreach: Build relationships with area agencies and businesses; provide monthly articles for the district newsletter to keep stakeholders informed.
  • Compliance: Operate as an equal opportunity provider and adhere to all district equity regulations and nondiscrimination policies.

Qualifications

  • High School diploma required; advanced degree in Human Services, Business, or related field preferred.
  • Proven experience in retail management, food pantry operations, or community resource coordination.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to maintain accurate records for state and local reporting.
